Baltimore catcher pedro severino roped a ball into deep center and not noticing the wall approaching marisnick slammed right into it at full speed trying to make the grab.
I noticed now two problems.

You need the bounciness 0 in order to make the ball bounce on the walls.
It works with the two paddles but does not work with the ball itself.
I have a simple question about collision with a wall by a round object.
With breakout collision detection becomes more complex than pong because there are significantly more objects that the ball could collide with and its possible even with a small dt time delta that a fast ball could collide with multiple bricks in a single frame.
Just add a static rigidbody 2d to all the walls.
When the distance between the center of the ball and the edge of the wall is exactly the same as the radius of the ball it will change the movement direction.

1 you haven t assigned a physics material to your ball.
Create a new physics material 2d in the assets set its bounciness to 1 and friction to 0 then drag it to the material of the ball s rigidbody 2d component.
